My thoughts on laying around in bed

As I sit here in my bed, eating french fries with ranch I decided I should blog.

Here are just a couple of my current thoughts on having a passenger inside.....

1. The food i have been eating is both wonderful and scary, tasty yet so gross.

2. Two days ago I had Robert help me to remove my belly-button piercing which i have had since age 16. After it was removed i lay on my bed crying, wondering if i would ever be "cool" again.
Wondering if i would be able to ever put it back in again so that i could be the mom with the belly-button piercing. I cried also because i was freaked out to look at myself without the tiny piece of silver attached to my body. It took my 24 hours before i could look at myself.

3. Im wondering how a peanut sized friend could possibly cause me to be this hungry all the time?

4. Im wondering why the hallway of 3rd floor has to smell so bad all the time, causing me to want to die every time i enter to kitchen.

5. And im thinking I might be boring for the rest of my life, based on the fact that I cant handle doing anything other than going to bed by 4 pm every day.

Fan on or off ???

Sleeping with a fan on is the norm for us. It provides a lovely and comfortable sleep, free from any kind of sounds happening anywhere out of our room....which is quite a lot.

But, sometimes I like to turn it off or at least on low, allowing me to be aware of every single happening outside our window on Jones street. A simple reminder to us that just because we have gone safely to bed in our comfortable room, doesnt mean that the rest of our community has done the same. In fact, its often worse once we have gone to bed. The things we sometimes hear at night are basically horrifying.

Last night with the fan set to low, we were awakened by a drive by shooting right outside our building. We have an active strip club next door to us, and at 3 a.m while the sidewalk was flooded with people in line to get in/out/just hanging out, we heard the sounds of chaos.
Gun shots...to screams....to mass chaos....to confusion...to sirens...to numerous police yelling and holding the biggest guns ive ever seen a cop carry. They looked like they were going to war.
We ran to the window and watched pure chaos take place right below us.
It was like a movie. Thats the only way i can describe it.

This is why we sleep with a fan on. And this is also why we sometimes sleep with the fan turned off.

Getting out of the city

I went away......to a huge house 4 hours north along the coast....

Relaxed....

Eric & Cameron cut the fields....

We went on daily walks...

pulled some massive weeds...

Then i remembered that we were in the middle of nowhere and I freaked out for the remaining 5 days....

So we had evening photo shoots

I feel pretty strongly that Tyra Banks would consider this one "Fierce"

reaching an understanding

You know you have reached an understanding with the local cockroaches when....

I am putting cookie dough onto a baking sheet while watching a cockroach drink water
from a tiny puddle next to me on the counter.

I open the hot oven to bake my cookies, and a dozen cockroaches fall out of the oven door and into the bottom of the oven...still alive despite the 350 degree heat!
(my cookies are still safe to eat...)

Siblings on 3rd floor

My brother Eric recently moved into the room right next to ours, up here on the third floor!
He is the new official summer intern here at "City Impact"!
And the most magical part of it all is that the wall which separates our room from his, is actually a door...not a wall. So, in the mornings i can tap on the "wall" (door) and talk to him (without even shouting) while i get ready for my day or inform him that we have coffee brewing in our room. Absolutely magical.
Last night while we were SLEEPING, Eric decided to knock on our door a few times. Then he proceeded to call us on the cell phone. We thought maybe it was an emergency so we answered.
All he wanted to know was if the two of us were on a bike ride.....AT 11:00 AT NIGHT!
Again, magical.

Robert and I spent Monday at the ocean! We took a drive along the coast through Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. We stopped at the lighthouse and walked around the beach. We found some colonies of hermit crabs in the rocks and we found a lot of other creatures in a cave. The tide quickly came into the cave and Robert had to put me on his back and run through the water to get us out! I spent the rest of the day in my sweats and relaxing. It was a great extra day to our weekend.
